Makani is Hawaii’s #1 sailing adventure, so get out into the open waters of the Pacific Ocean aboard this awesome Catamaran! Choose from either a breakfast sail with free donuts, juice, and fresh fruit, or an afternoon sail, with snacks and beverages available for purchase! Both cruises last approximately two hours and offer a great way to see the stunning coastal waters that draw in millions of tourists and are the envy of countless postcard-recipients each year!
The U.S. Coast Guard-certified Makani is the safest passenger vessel of its kind. This world-class catamaran offers a full bar, covered cabin seating area, state-of-the-art stereo surround sound system, LCD TV, sunbathing net areas, and pilothouse seating.
…moreThe crew will take you along Oahu's shores, during which time you should be alert for dolphins, flying fish, sea turtles, and, during the winter migration season, humpback whales! The Makani Catamaran offerings are a huge hit with customers, and consistently receive excellent reviews from people who enjoy the experience of sailing through the clear blue waters and spotting marine life in action.
Please be aware that food is only included on the morning breakfast sail. Food and snacks are available on the afternoon sail for an additional cost. Vegetarian food options are available, but make sure you call ahead, and, for good measure, double check before boarding. There is a cash bar on all cruises.
One customer who has sailed with Makani a few times offers this advice: "Do bring a light sweater and be prepared to sit outside (bring sunscreen). The captain does normally keep the ride smooth … if you do tend to get seasick, sit outside, not inside."
Makani Catamaran has been in operation for several years, and was constructed in the U.S. Virgin Islands. The yacht features top-of-the-line construction, and exists thanks to the ingenuity of a skilled investment group including Captain Jon Jepson and architect Dave Wallworth, with the help of Gold Coast Yachts. This impressive yacht is worth $1.8 million; the carbon fiber mast alone coming in at $400,000. After the ship was completed in 2005, the crew set sail for Honolulu, sailing over 8,000 miles and passing through the Panama Canal, skirting the coast of Central America and heading northwest via Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. She now calls Kewalo Basin home in lovely Honolulu, and is just waiting for you to take a spin on her beautiful decks, thanks to the exciting cruise options brought to you by Makani. All aboard!

Everything about this tour was great. For two hours, you enjoy a beautiful ride on the Pacific, have a drink or two, fresh fruit and fresh donuts, and the view of fish, turtles and, if you are lucky, dolphins and tuna. The staff were great, friendly, funny, helpful. I'm glad we did this tour. And we are thankful to our friends for giving us the Go Cards as gifts.

Make use of this with the Go Oahu card or not. Great boat, great captain and great crew. I went with my 10 year old on the Sunset sail and we had so much fun. Did the full titanic ride up on the bow and felt like we were flying. One of the highlights of our trip and definately worth it.

the 2nd time we sailed, we finally made it to the turtle sail/snorkling, and it was amazing experience!!! we all loved it!!. The crew were all great and really looked at the passengers safety. Too bad we didn't see any spinner dolphins this time unlike the 1st. Highly recomended to sail with Makani!!!

Awesome staff!! My friend and I came in Sept and we opted for the snorkel for $15 additional with the Go Oahu card, SO WORTH IT! Both were first timers and the staff was fun and helpful. We were lucky, only 10 guests on a boat made for 75, it was so much fun, out in the middle of the ocean snorkeling... can't be beat.

We did the $15 Turtle breakfast sail combo, we had such a great time that we wanted to do it again. Every time we tried to call and book for another day they kept giving us different excusses, first they said we need 15 people to do the sail and we only have 2 people on the waiting list and we had a big group on 10 people. Then they said the boat was having some stuff done to it. Really wish we could have done it again. On the boat was fun, the food was just little snacks, donuts and fruit nothing big and 2 free drinks and the drinks were nice and strong. My husband and I took my daughter in the water and the staff was very nice and helpful. We saw fish and turtle a great morning. I would recommend booking on more than one day just in case they cancel on you.

We paid the extra $15 and did the breakfast sail and it was well worth it. We had a 3.5 year old and 18 mo old and the whole family took dramamine before we got on the boat an had no problems. There was even a nice couple on the boat that watched our kids while my husband and I snorkeled together. The sail was beautiful and my kids loved it! They especially loved all the donuts, me not so much...

Comments about Smart Destinations Makani Catamaran Sail:
My parents visited and I decided to take them on a sail. I had previously sailed with Makani before when a friend visited, and it was lovely. I made a reservation on Friday, with one vegetarian meal (as offered on the sail). I called to CONFIRM the vegetarian meal the following Tuesday, and on Friday when we checked in I confirmed again that there was a vegetarian meal. I got "yes" all three times. As you can already guess, there was nothing my mother was able to eat on the boat except some potatoes (she's vegetarian for religious reasons). She is diabetic, and cannot skip meals, which is why I went through the time to ENSURE a meal for her by calling to confirm. They assured me it was recorded and would be taken care of. I would NOT have booked this Dinner and Sunset cruise if I had known that one of our party of four would not be having dinner, even though the cost of the meal is included in the price. I am a local with many friend and family visitors, and I will never recommend them to anyone like I did with my parents. The sheer amount of incompetence to make this mistake is mind-blowing. I tried to see if they would offer a comp afternoon sail for just my parents, and they completely ignored me.

If your in Oahu, this is a MUST!!! Amazing!!! The staff was amazing, the free breakfast was very nice, not too much, but just enough, the view....I just can't explain how wonderful it was! Captain John is very down to earth and really seemed like he enjoys conversing with you and everyone else. If you have the Oahu card then it is unlimited the amount of times you can use it. We did not know this but we do now and plan to take advantage of this when we return in August!!!! The card almost pays for itself with this cruise!

My husband and I went on the breakfast sail and it was wonderful. The staff was wonderful. We spotted and guided beside some dolphins and sea turtles. It was such a relaxing way to see Waikiki.
