October 2 , 2007 (Boston, MA) – – From harvest festivals to haunted happenings, Massachusetts is home to numerous fall traditions that attract visitors from all over the world. To celebrate the arrival of fall in New England, Smart Destinations, creators of the popular Go Boston TM Card, are offering 15% off now through October 11. Other web exclusive savings will be available at www.GoBostonCard.com.

“Fall is the perfect time to visit Boston, because the summer crowds have calmed down but there’s still so much to do,” said Smart Destinations president Cecilia Dahl. “You can admire the foliage in and around the city or take day trip to Salem or Plymouth to learn more about New England’s exciting history. The Go Boston Card lets you really immerse yourself in the area’s best attractions, many of which offer special events or activities this time of year.”

Here is an overview of the area’s seasonal happenings this fall:

• Cape Cod hosts its fourth annual Cranberry Harvest Celebration on October 6 and 7. The event includes arts and crafts, pony rides, harvest tours, and more. While visiting Cape Cod, tourists can use their Go Boston Card at the John F. Kennedy Hyannis Museum, the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History, Cape Cod Central Railroad, and several other attractions.

• Gray Line Tours operates a fall foliage tour that is included in the Go Boston Card. Visitors spend a full day admiring the richly hued New England leaves and crisp autumn air, as well as sampling traditional New England faire at a Yankee-style tavern and local apple orchard. This seasonal tour is available until about October 21 depending on the season’s foliage.

• Historic Salem comes alive during the month of October with reenactments of the Salem Witch Trials, Halloween-themed events, and more. Go Boston Card includes admission to the Salem Witch Museum, a Historical Guided Walking Tour, the House of Seven Gables, and the Peabody Essex Museum.

• The town of Plymouth offers a few more ways to explore New England’s history with Plimouth Plantation and the Jenney Grist Mill. Go Boston Card grants admission to both living history museums, which reenact life in the seventeenth century. The Jenney Grist Mill is the site of the first mill builtin the United States in 1636. Tourists can also visit Plimouth Plantation to learn about the Puritans, the Wampanoag people, and their first Thanksgiving.

• Also part of Go Boston Card, Old Sturbridge Village in Sturbridge, Massachusetts portrays life in 1830s New England.
