Frequently Asked Questions

How do I "activate" my card?

How many days should I buy?

Is my card valid all day?

You can enter attractions until 5:30pm with the Go San Diego Card.

What is your refund policy?

How many attractions can I visit in one day?

On a Go San Diego Card, you can visit as many attractions as you want in a day from 9:00am-5:30pm.

Can I visit an attraction more than once?

In most cases, you can visit each attraction once per day. Some attractions are valid only once during the life of the pass. Please reference your guidebook for specific information on each attraction.

What is the age cut off for child cards?

Child cards are for children ages 3-12. Most attractions do not charge for children under 3 years old. However, there are some exceptions (especially children's museums and attractions geared toward very young travelers). If you have a child under 3 years old, please check with the attraction directly in advance. You may be charged at the gate.

Do I need to make reservations to visit the attractions?

Attractions that require a reservation will display this symbol on the guidebook page.

Some attractions require a credit card to hold a reservation. In these cases, your credit card will not be charged unless you do not show up for your reservation.

What happens if an attraction is closed or a tour is cancelled due to weather or other problem?

While we do our best to ensure that all attractions are available, events happen that are out of our control. The great thing about a Go San Diego Card is that there are so many attractions to choose from. If an attraction is closed, or cannot be visited for some reason, we know you'll find a fun alternative in your guidebook!

What do I do if my Go San Diego Card is lost or stolen?

Unfortunately, it cannot be replaced if it is lost or stolen. Please treat the card like cash.

Can I share my Go San Diego Card with a friend, or sell it?

A Go San Diego Card is non-transferrable. Once you start using it, you are the only person who can use it to get into attractions. You must sign the signature strip on the back of the card and you may be asked to present an ID. Go San Diego Cards cannot be re-sold.

If you are traveling with a group, each traveller may be asked for proof of ID.

What’s the catch?

There’s no catch. Go San Diego Card has a partnership with all of the participating attractions to make your visit to San Diego as memorable as possible and to help you save time and money.

I still have questions!

Family of 3 Saved $155
By K from Cincinnati, OH on
Best Uses:
SEA WORLD, Zoo, Zoofari,
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Smart Destinations Go San Diego Card:

Family of two adults and one two-year old; one-week pass: 1. Coronado ferry x 2 x2 trips = $17 2. Zoo $46 x 2 = $92 3. Sea World $84 x 2 = $168 4. Zoofari $46 x 2 = $92 5. Legoland $76 x 2 = $152 6. Train museum $8 x 2 = $16 7. Kayaking ~$70 Purchase price $451.75; without pass price $607; savings $155.25. Appreciated that Bike and Kayak Coronado allowed my husband to use the two passes for a single kayak trip; wished that they had the surrey bikes for rental. Only con was AT LEAST one hour at LegoLand wasted because Go San Diego card (1 of 2) was showing that it was already activated for LegoLand. We had to go to customer service (understaffed by LegoLand and excessively long wait, upwards of an hour) for LegoLand to call Go San Diego and confirm that the pass had not been activated for the date of use. LegoLand not that impressive for the price for a 2 1/2 year-old. LegoLand attempts to recover service by providing front-of-the-line passes to our family for one ride. It appears they did this for everyone in the customer service line. At one point the front-of-the-line line was as long as the regular line. No money out of their pockets; won't be in a rush to return to LegoLand for any future vacations.

Comments about Smart Destinations Go San Diego Card:

We loved our SD trip thanks to this card. 3 day card used for Sea world, Lego land , SD zoo and a few smaller attractions. Honest company, honest business practices- All time limits and "rules" clearly stated before I made my purchase online. I can happily say I had no surprises which is always good with all you invest in a family vacation . I would without a doubt purchase again and will look into using for other destinations when traveling in the future. Thanks!!!

Worth it if you plan well
By wolf Verified Reviewer from RI on
Pros:
Avoiding Lines Sometimes, Cost Savings
Cons:
Time constraints,
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Smart Destinations Go San Diego Card:

I bought 2 x 7-day cards (me + wife. We were in San Diego x 9 days. Of course, the card expires 7 days from when you first use it, so we had work with that. We went to the Zoo (full day), Legoland (full day if you have kids), Sea World (full day), Midway ship, a bunch of museums, Miramar racing. In the end, we saved about 35 $. Not a huge deal but we could have saved more if I had more free time (I was in part on a business trip). So to make the best of the card, you have to really know what you want to see and how much time you have. It may be better for some to customize their own card. Perhaps we would have saved more if we had customize it.

Worth the Money - So easy to Use!
By KB Verified Reviewer from Burleson, TX on
Pros:
Top Attractions, Easy to use, No hassle, Great venues
Cons:
530pm deadline,
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Smart Destinations Go San Diego Card:

We purchased the 5-day Go San Diego Card. It was worth the money - helped us plan our vacation on a daily basis. We never had an issue using the card. The guidebook is helpful and comprehensive. We were able to visit several attractions on the same day. Only wish some of the attractions allowed access after 5:30pm so we could have utilized it even more! Must have for your southern California trip!

Great Pass!
By Leash from Layton, UT on
Pros:
Easy to use, Variety of activities, Saves Money
Best Uses:
SEA WORLD, Wave house, San Diego Zoo
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Smart Destinations Go San Diego Card:

My husband and I got the 5-day Go San Diego Card and we were able to do so many things with this card that we probably would not have done otherwise. We figured that we each saved over $230 by buying these passes. We had a blast and will use this pass again when we go back. The only cons I can think of is that there is so much to do and you want to get everything in and it's difficult to do so in five (or however many) consecutive days without exhausting yourself, so I wish you had a couple more days to use each pass (like seven days to use the five day pass so you could have two days to take a break) and that they would add some relaxing attractions, such as a movie pass or show, so that you still feel like you're getting your moneys worth while relaxing and laying low.

The easiest card I've ever used.

Pros:
Saves Money, Easy to use, Convenient
Best Uses:
SEA WORLD, San Diego Zoo,
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Smart Destinations Go San Diego Card:

This card is spectacular. I purchased the 7-day one, and visited as many places as I could that are in the booklet that comes with the card. I found new and exciting places to go that I would not have gone otherwise. The card certainly pays for itself, especially if you wish to visit SeaWorld more than once. Everywhere I went that took the card, I simply gave it to them like a I would a credit card, and they took it without hesitation. People were actually friendly when I handed them the card, almost proud to accept it. The next time I travel, I'll be looking for a Smart Destinations card for that city!

Comments about Smart Destinations Go San Diego Card:

I added up the cost and we saved about $80. If we had actually used the card for 7 days, we would have been able to go to more places and saved more. We had no problems at all with the card. I will definitely purchase a card again for another city.
