Frequently Asked Questions

What are "consecutive calendar days"?

The first time you visit an attraction, it will “activate” the calendar day countdown on your pass.

For example, a 3-day pass activated on a Monday will be valid on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. It doesn’t matter what time you activate the pass on the first day, so we suggest you start your day early.

What if my plans change?
Free Cancellation Insurance

With our Free Cancellation Insurance, you can return any unactivated passes for a full refund, within a year of the purchase date.

How many days should I buy?

Most travelers visit between 2 and 3 attractions each day depending on individual preference. Our most popular pass is the 3-day pass.

How much will I save?

Compare the price of the pass to the gate prices of the attractions you want to visit to see how much you can save. Many customers save more than 50%.

Can I share my Go San Diego Card with a friend, or sell it?

A Go San Diego Card is non-transferrable. Once you start using it, you are the only person who can use it to get into attractions. You must sign the signature strip on the back of the card and you may be asked to present an ID. Go San Diego Cards cannot be re-sold.

If you are traveling with a group, you may be asked to present each member of your group at the ticket window, for proof of ID.

Can I visit multiple theme parks in a day?

Some attractions like Sea World, the San Diego Zoo and LegoLand have this symbol on their page this means that once you visit the attraction, you have to wait three hours before your pass is valid at another attraction that has that symbol. You can visit attractions that don’t have the symbol inside the three hour period if you choose to.

For example, if you visit the San Diego Zoo at 9am, you won’t be able to get into SeaWorld or LegoLand until noon.

Is my card valid all day?

You can enter attractions until 5:30pm with the Go San Diego Card.

Can I visit an attraction more than once?

In most cases, you can visit each attraction once per day. Some attractions are valid only once during the life of the pass. Please reference your guidebook page for specific information on each attraction.

What is the age cut off for child tickets?

Child passes are for ages 3-12. Most attractions are free for children under 3.

Should I have my passes shipped or should I pick it up?
  • Having your passes shipped in advance will save you time traveling to a pick up location when you get there. Note that transit times vary depending on shipping options. View shipping options.
  • With in-city pickup you can get your physical card and guidebook without waiting for shipping. We will email you a voucher which can be redeemed for passes at one of our voucher redemption locations.
Where can I pick up my passes once I get to San Diego?

View a list of locations where you can redeem your voucher.

Where can I buy the passes in San Diego?

View a list of sales locations in San Diego. Note that in-city purchases are available for full price only.

Do I need to make reservations to visit the attractions?

Attractions that require a reservation will display this symbol on the guidebook page.

Some attractions require a credit card to hold a reservation. In these cases, your credit card will not be charged unless you do not show up for your reservation.

What’s the catch?

There’s no catch. Go San Diego Card has a partnership with all of the participating attractions to make your visit to San Diego as memorable as possible and to help you save time and money.

I still have questions!

Worth it if you plan well
By wolf Verified Reviewer from RI on 11/6/2012
Pros:
Cost Savings, Avoiding Lines Sometimes
Cons:
Time constraints,
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Smart Destinations Go San Diego Card:

I bought 2 x 7-day cards (me + wife. We were in San Diego x 9 days. Of course, the card expires 7 days from when you first use it, so we had work with that. We went to the Zoo (full day), Legoland (full day if you have kids), Sea World (full day), Midway ship, a bunch of museums, Miramar racing. In the end, we saved about 35 $. Not a huge deal but we could have saved more if I had more free time (I was in part on a business trip). So to make the best of the card, you have to really know what you want to see and how much time you have. It may be better for some to customize their own card. Perhaps we would have saved more if we had customize it.

Comments about Smart Destinations Go San Diego Card:

We purchased the 5-day Go San Diego Card. It was worth the money - helped us plan our vacation on a daily basis. We never had an issue using the card. The guidebook is helpful and comprehensive. We were able to visit several attractions on the same day. Only wish some of the attractions allowed access after 5:30pm so we could have utilized it even more! Must have for your southern California trip!

Great Pass!
By Leash from Layton, UT on 8/11/2011
Pros:
Variety of activities, Easy to use, Saves Money
Best Uses:
San Diego Zoo, SEA WORLD, Wave house
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Smart Destinations Go San Diego Card:

My husband and I got the 5-day Go San Diego Card and we were able to do so many things with this card that we probably would not have done otherwise. We figured that we each saved over $230 by buying these passes. We had a blast and will use this pass again when we go back. The only cons I can think of is that there is so much to do and you want to get everything in and it's difficult to do so in five (or however many) consecutive days without exhausting yourself, so I wish you had a couple more days to use each pass (like seven days to use the five day pass so you could have two days to take a break) and that they would add some relaxing attractions, such as a movie pass or show, so that you still feel like you're getting your moneys worth while relaxing and laying low.

Comments about Smart Destinations Go San Diego Card:

This card is spectacular. I purchased the 7-day one, and visited as many places as I could that are in the booklet that comes with the card. I found new and exciting places to go that I would not have gone otherwise. The card certainly pays for itself, especially if you wish to visit SeaWorld more than once. Everywhere I went that took the card, I simply gave it to them like a I would a credit card, and they took it without hesitation. People were actually friendly when I handed them the card, almost proud to accept it. The next time I travel, I'll be looking for a Smart Destinations card for that city!

I added up the cost and we saved about $80. If we had actually used the card for 7 days, we would have been able to go to more places and saved more. We had no problems at all with the card. I will definitely purchase a card again for another city.
