Here’s a little information about the magnificent mammal that is the namesake of this Flagship Cruise:
The Gray Whale is a dark, slate-gray colored baleen whale that can reach lengths of 52 feet and weights of up to 36 tons, with a lifespan of up to 70 years. The gray whale migrates annually through the Pacific waters off the coast of America and parts of Asia, at distances of up to 10,000 miles in a given migratory pattern. Gray whales feed mostly on crustaceans and sediment on the ocean floor, which they filter through their “baleen” (‘whalebone’).
Take this unique opportunity to see marine life off the Pacific Coast in their natural habitat, thriving in waters that were once filled with whale-hunters. San Diego now boasts a rich legacy of conservation and marine research, so there is no better place to behold this wonderful natural spectacle!
