Description

The San Diego Museum of Art provides a rich and diverse cultural experience for more than 400,000 annual visitors. Located in the heart of beautiful Balboa Park, it is the region's largest fine arts museum. Its nationally renowned collections include a fine selection of European old masters, important American paintings and sculptures of the 19th and 20th centuries, a vast Asian collection, works by masters of 20th-century European modernism, and a growing collection of contemporary art in all media. The Museum is also home to the Edwin Binney 3rd Collection of South Asian paintings, one of the most significant holdings of such works outside of India.

Driving:

From the North: Take I-5 South and exit at Sassafras Street (Airport exit). Take a left on Laurel Street and cross the bridge into Balboa Park. The Museum is on the left hand side of the plaza, where the road dead-ends. From the South: Take I-5 North and exit at 6th Avenue. Take a left on Laurel Street and follow as above. From the East or West: Take 163 South and exit at University Avenue. Making no turns, you will be on 6th Avenue. Turn left on Laurel Street (El Prado) and follow as above.
