1-hour Flowrider Session included at Wave House Beach Club (availability of wave is best before noon daily). Fun for any gender, the young and old!Called "flowboarding," this club's unique wave experience combines surfing and snowboarding, with one important difference: when you wipe out, you only bruise your ego. The padding helps you hone your skills to get back on that board. Chill out in the hot tub while you wait in between turns. Your family can hang out at the beach bar and take pictures, enjoying a meal or a cold beer and good music. A great family friendly activity mid week. Weekends in the summer can get pretty lively with a young 20's crowd. Belmont Park is right next door with rides right over the Pacific Ocean, so there are lots of activities to choose from - plan on spending the whole day on Mission Bay with your Go San Diego Card to maximize your fun!
San Diego is all about the water and surf scene, so why not don a wetsuit and make the most of your time in this sunny surfer’s paradise with your choice of 1-hour “ride the wave” sessions? A pass to Wave House Athletic Club of San Diego is ideal for the whole family, and gives each member in your group the choice of wave-riding (including VIP wetsuit rental), swimming in an Olympic-size pool, Historic Plunge Pool, group classes, or working out at the beautiful beachfront gym—one offer per day!
When it comes to wave riding, you have two “flowboarding” options at Wave House SD: FlowRider, and FlowBarrel. What is FlowRider? It’s 1/3 surfing, 1/3 snowboarding, and 1/3 some kind of combination of skim/skate/wakeboarding! FlowBarrel, on the other hand, gives you 100,000 gallons of continuously flowing water (as fast as 30 MPH), creating a massive wave-curl as high as 10 feet! Affectionately known as “Bruticus Maximus”, FlowBarrel regularly takes on tourists, Jack Black, and gold medalists alike and it shows no mercy! Imagine the feeling of pride, then, when you are the first in your tribe to conquer the wave!
If you start rationally talking yourself out of this attraction with phrases like “Wait—I’ve never even been on a surfboard!” Or “I live in the Midwest and I’ve only read about waves in science textbooks” fear not! No experience or fluency in Southern California surf-speak is required to take on this challenge. Just come ready with a sense of humor and be prepared to fall (repeatedly) along with everyone else who is laughing and enjoying the challenge afforded by this awesome house of waves. And if you’re a little pain-averse, don’t worry –FlowRider and FlowBarrel are padded. The only thing bruised might be your ego. Do prepare yourself, however, because this kind of extreme fun can be addictive! Please note that FlowRider is only for people 42” or taller.
Wave House of San Diego is Mission Beach’s premier athletic club, and this pass gives you a truly unique chance to work out, do a little surfing (in a controlled environment), take a plunge, or just chill! Bring the whole family and enjoy the ride!
