What is a Go San Francisco Card?

A Go San Francisco Card is a multi-attraction pass that gets you into 27 San Francisco attractions for one low price.

How does a Go San Francisco Card Work?
  • Just purchase passes for the number of days you want to sightsee — we offer 1, 2, 3, or 5-Day cards.
  • Your Go San Francisco Card grants you admission to any of the included attractions for the number of days you bought the card for.
  • Simply present your pass at included attractions for admission. Pay nothing at the gate.
  • Visiting your first attraction activates your card. Then, use it on consecutive calendar days. ?
How will I get my pass?

Instantly! Choose between 2 options:

  • Use your pass right on your phone with the free Go City Card app.
  • Print your pass and guidebook at home.

Links and easy-to-follow instructions for both options will be in your confirmation email.

What else does the pass include?

You'll get a guide with detailed attraction descriptions, hours of operation, and a map to help plan your itinerary. Plus extra dining, shopping and entertainment discounts to help you save even more along the way.

Frequently Asked Questions Show All

What do you mean by "consecutive calendar days"?

"Consecutive calendar days" are days in a row, on a calendar. A calendar day is not a 24-hour period.

For example, if you have a 3-Day Go San Francisco Card and visit your first attraction on a Monday evening, it is valid for the remainder of Monday (1st calendar day) and the two days immediately following it: Tuesday (2nd calendar day), and Wednesday (3rd calendar day).

Tip: to get the most out of your pass, plan to visit attractions early in the day.

Is this just a discount card? Will I still need to buy tickets?

No. Passes include admission to each attraction; no need to pay anything at the gate. Some attractions may offer upgrades or special exhibits for an additional fee.

Do I need to choose my attractions in advance?

Nope, you can choose from the included attractions as you go.

What is the age cut off for child cards?

Child cards are for children ages 3-12. Most attractions do not charge for children under 3 years old. However, there are some exceptions (especially children's museums and attractions geared toward very young travelers). If you have a child under 3 years old, please check with the attraction directly in advance. You may be charged at the gate.

How will I get my pass?

Instantly! Choose between 2 options:

  • Use your pass right on your phone with the free Go City Card app.
  • Print your pass and guidebook at home.

Links and easy-to-follow instructions for both options will be in your confirmation email.

How do I "activate" my card?

Simply visit your first attraction!

Is my card valid all day?

Yes. You can enter attractions any time with the Go San Francisco Card.

What is your refund policy?

Our Risk Free Guarantee gives you one year from your purchase date to return any non-activated passes for a full refund.

How many days should I buy?

Most travelers visit between 2 and 3 attractions each day depending on individual preference. Our most popular card is the 3-Day card.

May I use a Go San Francisco Card to visit Alcatraz Island?

If you purchase a 3-day or 5-day Go San Francisco Card directly from Alcatraz Cruises, you may visit Alcatraz Island (subject to reservations and availability). View more Alcatraz information.

Can I purchase passes on the spur of the moment when I arrive in San Francisco?

Of course! With instant digital delivery, you can purchase and access passes right on your mobile device. Or, visit one of our local purchase locations.

Does a Go San Francisco Card expire?

Yes. You have one year from the date of purchase to begin using your pass. After one year, it will expire.

How much will I save?

Compare the price of the pass to the gate prices of the attractions you want to visit to see how much you can save. Or, check out some real savings examples from Go City Card customers to see how much they actually saved!

We give you the flexibility to create your own itinerary and choose the attractions you want to visit depending on your interests.

For inspiration, check out some of our sample itineraries, insider tips, and more for info on all the fun things to do in San Francisco so you can make the most of your time here.

How many attractions can I visit in one day?

On a Go San Francisco Card, you can visit as many attractions as you want in a day.

Can I visit an attraction more than once?

In most cases, you can visit each attraction once per day. Some attractions are valid only once during the life of the pass. Please reference your guidebook for specific information on each attraction.

Do I need to make reservations to visit the attractions?

Attractions that require a reservation will display this symbol on the guidebook page.

Some attractions require a credit card to hold a reservation. In these cases, your credit card will not be charged unless you do not show up for your reservation.

What’s the catch?

There’s no catch. Go San Francisco Card has a partnership with all of the participating attractions to make your visit to San Francisco as memorable as possible and to help you save time and money.

Can I share my pass with a friend or sell it?

No. The Go San Francisco Card is non-transferrable and may not be re-sold.

What happens if an attraction is closed or a tour is cancelled due to weather or other problem?

While we do our best to ensure that all attractions are available, events happen that are out of our control. The great thing about a Go San Francisco Card is that there are so many attractions to choose from. If an attraction is closed, or cannot be visited for some reason, we know you'll find a fun alternative in your guidebook!

I still have questions!

Please feel free to call us at 800‑887‑9103 and we’ll be happy to help you!

Note: A Go San Francisco Card is non-transferable. This means that once you start using it, you are the only person who can use it to get into attractions. Go San Francisco Cards may not be re-sold.

For first time visitors [the Go San Francisco Card] was a fantastic product! We saw and did so much, I don't think we would have done half of the attractions had we not bought the cards! Saved over £300!! […]

Poor Communication of Companies no longer apart of the pass
By Graeme from Kingston, Ontario, Canada on
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Smart Destinations Go San Francisco Card® All-Inclusive Pass:

I have been trying to contact SmartDestinations for a month on their online forum (http://www.smartdestinations.com/contact.html#callUs ), but every time there is an error. I recently purchased two 3-day Go City Cards for San Francisco and was very disappointed with availability/use of one of the card options. A month ago, my wife and I were in San Francisco and were excited to use the Hop-On Hop-Off CitySightseeing Bus to see the downtown loop, but we were sent walking all around town to try to get someone to actually authorize our passes. The story we got from CitySightseeing in the Fisherman's Wharf was that the company had recently been purchased by BigBus, and that CitySightseeing was no longer recognizing our passes, even though this was a major feature in us purchasing the pass. We left this CitySightseeing location at the Fisherman's Wharf and were sent over to BigBus, who also would not recognize our pass because we had bought it before November. We then went over to the California Welcome Centre where your Admission Pass Booklet said it could be authorized, and they no longer had the equipment. They were going to send us back to the Fisherman's Wharf CitySightseeing location and I said forget it! We had walked all over the place that day for these passes leaving us little time to so any of the attractions of the card, and we basically ended up wasting that day. I am still extremely upset that we did not get to go on this tour, and that we lost out on other attractions because of this huge confusion between these two companies.

Comments about Smart Destinations Go San Francisco Card® All-Inclusive Pass:

We used the one day card and decided to do as much as we could. We managed to take the hop on hop off bus all around the city including over the Golden Gate Bridge, California Academy of Sciences museum, madam tussauds, San Francisco dungeons and Ripleys believe it or not. We probably could have managed the aquarium too. Really enjoyed the day and a lot of the attractions are close together so they're easy to get to.

Comments about Smart Destinations Go San Francisco Card® All-Inclusive Pass:

Go City card offers great deal but more importantly it shows nearby attractions via its mobile application. Before using go card city application, I visited lots of web sites to decide the attractions I want to visit but the information amount is too much to digest. With the application, I just go to central place and visited all nearby attractions.

Worth it if you can be "on the go"

Comments about Smart Destinations Go San Francisco Card® All-Inclusive Pass:

We found that this card had a lot to offer, but the value was only really worth it (to us) if we did enough things to match the value of the card -- and then some. So we were a little rushed, but it worked because we were only a pair. Overall had fun, but some of the activities were targeted at younger audiences (Science Centre) which we should have realized!
