What will you see on your Sunset Cruise of San Francisco Bay?
The Golden Gate Bridge: The Golden Gate Bridge formally opened in 1937, and has since become an internationally-renowned landmark and the icon of San Francisco. It is also said to be perhaps the most photographed bridge in the world. The bridge is regularly featured in films and television shows.
Sausalito: A small, Mediterranean-style city located near the northern end of the Golden Gate Bridge that is known to be an artistic enclave of the affluent and is sheltered by the protected areas around the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. The area is popular among bicyclists as well as tourists who come via ferry from San Francisco. There are an unusual amount of houseboats (over 400) in the Sausalito community, which make for great photographs, as well as picturesque Cliffside cottages, stores and restaurants.
Alcatraz Island: The mist coming off the water of the San Francisco Bay adds to the mystery and allure of notorious Alcatraz Prison, with the rust-colored Golden Gate Bridge in the background, and the rocks of the island telling a tale of inescapable confinement. Many convicts attempted escape, but prison officials maintained that in the history of the detention center, not one prisoner was successful, and in fact, many met their demise trying to flee.
Angel Island: Angel Island is a quick hop from the mainland, and will be a prominent feature of your 2 hour cruise. This island is a beautiful and green natural landmark, and the entire island is part of Angel Island State Park—a great place to stop for a half day at a later point in your trip! Please Note:
Because sunset occurs so early during the winter months, this cruise goes by the name "California Twilight Cruise" between November 4 – March 31st. During this time, you'll sail along the night-lit skyline of San Francisco.
