Contemporary Jewish Museum

With the opening of its new building on June 8, 2008, the Contemporary Jewish Museum ushered in a new chapter in its 20-plus year history of engaging audiences and artists in exploring contemporary perspectives on Jewish culture, history, art, and ideas.

The new facility, designed by internationally renowned architect Daniel Libeskind, is a lively center where people of all ages and backgrounds can gather to experience art, share diverse perspectives, and engage in hands-on activities.

Hours

Friday–Tuesday, 11:00 am–5:00 pm.
Thursday, 11:00 am–8:00 pm.
Please note, Go San Francisco Card holders may enter this attraction until closing or 5:30pm, whichever comes first.

Closings

Wednesdays. May be closed for major U.S. and Jewish holidays.

Redemption Instructions

Proceed to the main admission desk and present your Go San Francisco Card to any ticket agent for general admission. The Go San Francisco Card is accepted for gate admission until 5:30 pm. Once inside the museum, all guests are welcome to stay until closing.

I can't imagine why anyone would ever rate this Museum 1 star, which is why I had to chime in here with my observations. I found it to be well worth the visit - the building itself is interesting architecturally. When I visited they were running a special exhibition on Harry Houdini. Very interesting material and the exhibit was well put together. The other exhibits and artwork are equally interesting and not everything is jam packed together - there is room to read and reflect. I also loved, loved, loved the gift shop. It was filled with many items that are great keepsakes to remember San Francisco.
