Across the Golden Gate Bridge from the beautiful city of San Francisco are two of the most unique tourist attractions in Northern California. Muir Woods and Sausalito, both part of Marin County, contain some of the most beautiful natural scenery in the area, as well as some of the most affluent neighborhoods and quaint villages. San Francisco Sightseeing brings you the Muir Woods and Sausalito Tour, which take you to the highlights of both.

San Francisco Sightseeing’s Muir Woods and Sausalito Tour lasts approximately 3.5 hours (advanced reservations required 24 hours ahead of desired departure). Here is a look at the primary areas you will traverse on your beautiful tour of the areas around San Francisco:

Marin County: One of the most affluent counties in the United States, with a per capita income of $91,483. The county is home to the beautiful Muir Woods, Mount Tamalpais, Marin Headlands, Stinson Beach, Sausalito and Point Reyes National Seashore.

Muir Woods National Monument: These beautiful woods are part of the National Park Service, spanning a preserved area of 559 acres, and housing one of the few remaining forests of the Redwood Sequoia. The Monument is an old-growth coastal redwood forest that skirts the Pacific Ocean and provides some of the most stunning forest scenery in the world. The ancestors of these redwood trees began their growth over 150 million years ago, and only in recent times have the redwood trees been threatened by deforestation. The land was designated a national monument in 1908 by President Theodore Roosevelt. Redwood trees can live anywhere from 800 to 1500 years, and they are the world’s oldest trees.

Sausalito: A small, Mediterranean-style city located near the northern end of the Golden Gate Bridge that is known to be an artistic enclave of the affluent and is sheltered by the protected areas around the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. The area is popular among bicyclists as well as tourists who come via ferry from San Francisco. There are an unusual amount of houseboats (over 400) in the Sausalito community, which make for great photographs, as well as picturesque Cliffside cottages, stores and restaurants.

These beautiful destinations are just a quick hop away from San Francisco, and with San Francisco Sightseeing's Muir Woods and Sausalito Tour, you can skip the rental car and enjoy a delightful morning exploring. Don’t forget to book in advance!
