This full-day excursion is the best way to take in Northern California's picturesque Wine Country. Explore both large-scale and small-boutique wineries, and enjoy wine tastings along the way. Your driver doubles as knowledgeable tour guide.

California’s wine country is among the most beautiful scenery in the world, and these fertile grounds produce white wines that are internationally acclaimed for their robust flavors and bottling potential. Discover Napa Valley, Sonoma, and the stunning wine country of Northern California with San Francisco’s Wine Country Tour. You’ll visit both large scale and boutique wineries of the region, and learn about production techniques as you enjoy wine tastings and tours of the various wineries that dot this magnificent area.

San Francisco Sightseeing lets you sit back and enjoy the scenery…and the wine! No drinking and driving allowed, or necessary for that matter, because your very knowledgeable and very sober driver will take care of it for you, bringing you to the wine hotspots of the beautiful countryside that inspired Steinbeck to write so passionately. The Mediterranean climate of Sonoma and Napa counties make this the premium wine-grape growing region in the country, and the rolling hills and coastal scenery will surely impress upon you memories that will last for years to come.

Napa Valley and Sonoma are widely known to be among the top American Viticultural Areas of the country, dating back to the early part of the nineteenth century, when their wineries were first brought into operation. Today, there are nearly three hundred wineries and many grape varieties, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot and Zinfandel. The Valley area brings in as many as five million visitors each year, many of whom come to sample the world-class wines.

The San Francisco Sightseeing Wine Country Tour lasts approximately 9 hours, departing daily at 9:15AM. There will be ample opportunities for lunch at either the historic square of Sonoma, or at Yountville’s Vintage 1870, which features a collection of 30 specialty shops and galleries. Your friendly tour guide will be not only informative, but witty and warm, and your wine tastings are sure to be delightful. Gray Line even offers a complimentary shuttle service to and from most hotels in San Francisco (please call at least 24 hours in advance to schedule a pickup).

Comments about Smart Destinations :

My husband and I spent a week in San Francisco. I am not a wine drinker like my husband, but really want to see Napa Valley. So we took this tour. It was 9 hours long. Only about 2 hours on the bus totally. Bus driver was very nice and gave us good information. The tour was very nicely organized. We visited 3 wineries. Each one has its own story and we were informed in different ways on how the wine was made. Very interesting. Great scenery along the ride. We ended up with 2 bottles of wines that we both really like. Great experience and very relaxed.
