Sausalito Wooden Boat Tour - Waterfront History Tour

Fascinating insight into a side of Sausalito most people don’t see! Discover the old Sausalito waterfront as we stroll the docks; visit the historic houseboat communities, art studios, WWII shipyards and wooden boat center. Tour ends with tea and cookies at the boat lettering shack next to the WWII shipways. Sausalito makes a perfect trip from San Francisco; it is the first town north of the Golden Gate Bridge. You can get there by ferry in about 40 mins from Fisherman’s Wharf or you can rent a bike and enjoy crossing the Golden gate Bridge or travel by car or Golden Gate Transit bus to see this picturesque community.

Driving:

From San Francisco: Head North on Highway 101 over the Golden Gate Bridge, Exit at Sausalito-Marin City (bottom of the hill after Rodeo Drive), Go left at the bottom of the Exit ramp into the middle lane and go under the Bridge. Go straight at traffic light, make an immediate left into the little shopping mall. Look for Mike’s Bikes.

From Marin: Head South on Highway 101, Exit at Sausalito-Marin City (just after last Mill Valley exit) Turn left at the intersection at the bottom of the Exit ramp. Make an immediate left into the little shopping mall. We meet in front of Mike’s Bikes.

Public Transportation:

Ferry from Fisherman’s Wharf. Special arrangements can be made for pick up at the Ferry Landing in downtown Sausalito, or you can hail one of the local taxis or jump on the Golden Gate Transit bus for a ride to Gate 6 Road and Bridgeway. Here you will see a little shopping mall. We meet in front of Mike’s Bikes.
