Where can I buy a New York City Explorer Pass?

You can find directions and a map for our local purchase locations at the In City Pickup and Purchase Locations screen.

You may also buy a New York City Explorer Pass directly here on this Web site. Affordable standard shipping takes up to 10 days from our Boston, MA operations center, so make sure you order in advance for your trip. Express shipping is available for a small additional cost.

I have a voucher. Where do I pick up the Explorer Pass and Guidebook?

Simply bring your printed voucher to a local redemption center. You can find directions and a map for our local voucher redemption locations at the In City Pickup and Purchase Locations screen.

How do the included City Tours work?

Our local partner for the city tours is CitySights NY.  You may choose 1 city tour as one of your admissions. You may choose only 1 tour from the following options:

• CitySights NY – Hop on Hop off Doubledecker Downtown Tour
• CitySights NY – Hop on Hop off Doubledecker Uptown and Harlem Treasures Tour
• CitySights NY – Night Tour
• CitySights NY – All Around Tour (a $12.00 upgrade fee applies)
• CitySights NY – Brooklyn Tour (a $12.00 upgrade fee applies)
• CitySights NY – Multilingual Tour (a $12.00 upgrade fee applies)

Any city tour you take is counted as one of your attraction choices. Simply make your choice from the above 4 options and present your Explorers Pass at the CitySights Desk. You will receive your ticket for whichever tour you've chosen at that time.

Your Doubledecker Bus Ticket (Uptown or Downtown) is good for 24 hours from the time you pick it up at CitySights; The Night Tour ticket is valid on date of pick up only.

The All Around Tour ticket is good for 48 hours from the time you pick it up at CitySights.

How do I get my tickets for the Statue of Liberty and is it true that I get to skip the line?

You will pick up your tickets for the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island Ferry at the CitySights NY Desk in Times Square. Complete directions and instructions can be found in your guidebook. While others can be waiting on the ticket line at Battery Park for hours, you simply present your Explorer Pass at the CitySights NY desk to pick up your tickets. You will, however, have to board the ferry at Battery Park in the normal manner with all other passengers. While you cannot skip this line (if one exists), it is the line for ticket purchase that is often lengthy when heading to the Statue of Liberty.

How does the New York Water Taxi attraction work?

The Statue of Libery Express Tour is offered on a year round basis. However, during the high season (May – October) as a bonus, you will receive a complimentary 2-day Water Taxi pass when you choose the Gateway to America cruise as one of your attraction picks.

Do I really get to skip the long lines at the Metropolitan Museum and the Museum of Modern Art?

Yes, you do! Simply follow the instructions included in your guidebook and avoid spending precious time waiting in line at these very popular museums.

General Explorer Pass questions

What is an Explorer Pass?

A New York City Explorer Pass is a multi-attraction pass providing you with your choice of 3, 5, 7 or 10 attraction visits from many of New York City’s top attractions. You choose 3, 5, 7 or 10 attractions from the included attraction list and entry is included. You get to create your own experience, tailoring your activities based on what you like to do.

What's the catch? How can you offer all this at such an affordable price?

There is no catch! Because we bring a very large number of visitors to each of our attraction partners, we are able to get great pricing on each admission, allowing us to pass the savings on to you when using an Explorer Pass.

How does the Explorer Pass work?

All you have to do is present your New York City Explorer Pass at a participating attraction and your entry is included (you pay nothing). The New York City Explorer Pass is valid for admission to 3 attractions, 5 attractions, 7 attractions or 10 attractions – you decide when you buy.

The pass is activated the first time you use it and you have 30 days to visit 3, 5, 7 or 10 different attractions (depending on which pass you purchased). You can visit each of your selected attractions 1 time. Every person (ages 3 and up) in your group must have a New York City Explorer Pass to take advantage of the free admissions. Attraction admissions follow the open operating hours of the attraction.

Does my pass expire?

Your first attraction visit must occur within one (1) year following the calendar year in which your card is purchased. Cards purchased this year will expire on December 31 the following year. Once you activate your Explorer Pass by visiting your first attraction or picking up your trolley pass, you have thirty (30) days to visit your remaining attractions.

How do I get a value out of a Explorer Pass?

We recognize when traveling that value, choice, and flexibility are important. You'll be able to maximize your value and fun by reviewing the included attractions list, from which you choose your favorite attractions, on the website or in your guide. If I purchase online, how do I get my passes?

We'll ship your Explorer Passes to you, the next business day (Monday through Friday) from our Boston, MA operations center so you can better plan your trip and maximize your fun and value. Economical shipping options are listed as you purchase.
When placing your order online, you have the option of:

• Shipping your passes and accompanying guide to you before you travel
• Printing a voucher and picking up your passes and guide once in your destination

We recommend having your order shipped, so you can better plan your trip and maximize your fun and value. If you choose to pick up your pass in the city, remember to print out your voucher and bring it with you to a local redemption center.

Do you offer group rates?

We offer special rates for groups of 20 or more. Please contact us for details.
