In advance of the kickoff of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, the Museum of Man in San Diego is holding a party later on this month to help build excitement for the event and education city residents on some of the finer points of Brazilian culture.
The World Cup doesn’t start until June 12, but the Museum of Man is planning on having its Tower After Hours: World Cup Brazil party on May 29 from 6-8 p.m.
The party will focus on some of the most fun aspects of Brazilian culture – and many cultures in general – by featuring live performances of music and dance and serving up some of the most delectable Brazilian cuisine in the Northern Hemisphere. There will also be soccer demonstrations which will hopefully help people get in the “All in One Rhythm” mood of the Cup this summer.
Munch on dishes from DoBraza like cheese or chicken balls while sipping on craft beers from Stone Brewing Co., Ninkasi Brewing Co. or Left Coast Brewing Co. The sizzling music from SOL e MAR will provide some great background noise and local businesses like Sambazon, Shakespeare’s Pub and The Field will also be represented.
Support for Tower After Hours is provided by the Nissan Foundation, the City of San Diego Commission for Arts and Culture, and the County of San Diego’s Community Enhancement Program.
The Museum of Man’s great World Cup party makes a lot of sense because San Diego is home to a large Brazilian population and its Annual Brazilian Day San Diego Street Fair and Parade is the largest Brazilian celebration in the United States after Brazilian Day in New York City.
Who knows – if you have enough fun during the World Cup Brazil party at the Museum of Man, you may just want to stick around and go the fair and parade. After all, it’s being held at a great spot, PacificBeach!
