ZooLights Chicago

Wintertime in Chicago is full of festive attractions and glittering decorations; from the shop windows along Michigan Avenue to the towering heights of the Hancock Observatory. One of our favorite holiday attractions this year in the Windy City is ZooLights Chicago – a family-friendly event held annually at the Lincoln Park Zoo.

For a few weekends each year, the Lincoln Park Zoo is transformed into a magical wonderland of glittering lights and fun holiday activities. Although ZooLights is named for the dazzling light displays you’ll find throughout the Zoo, there’s so much more going on than that. This year’s featured route through the Zoo is brand new, featuring even more lights, holiday decorations, and animal sightings. You’ll be able to check out a number of special holiday animal encounters, enjoy a fantastic musical lights shows, and even marvel at the talented ice carvings, performed live every night!

ZooLights Chicago!

ZooLights Chicago at the Lincoln Park Zoo is about the total holiday experience, so you’ll also find plenty of gift shopping opportunities, seasonal dinners and snacks, and classic holiday beverages like spiced wine (and some kid-appropriate beverages, too!). Kids will love the holiday-themed carousel and train rides, and the chance to create free holidays crafts with the whole family – and everyone knows homemade presents are the best. Santa will even be around through December 23rd, so it’s a great opportunity for kids to combine their love of animals with an exciting visit with the big guy.

A special new edition to ZooLights Chicago for 2013 is Ice Skating! Visit the Farm-in-the-Zoo and rent some skates for an afternoon of fun! Rentals are only $5, or you can bring your own; Ice Skating will be available from November 29, 2013 – March 2, 2014 (excepting Christmas Eve and Christmas Day), so you can enjoy this winter sport all season long. The Lincoln Park Zoo will run ZooLights Chicago on the following dates: November 29–December 1; December 6–8, 13–23; December 26–January 5, 2013–14.
