Visit over 140 species of aquatic animals and over 300 sharks and rays at the Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo, located right in The Dubai Mall.
The 10 million liter Dubai Aquarium tank is one of the largest suspended aquariums in the world spanning 51 meters in length, 20 meters in width, and 11 meters in height.
You’ll get to see thousands of sea animals, including the largest collection of sand tiger sharks in the world. Walk through the 48 meter long underwater glass tunnel for 270 degree views of the tank and sea life swimming around overhead.
Check the aquarium’s daily schedule of presentations to see demonstrations of divers and staff interacting with the animals. Popular presentations include shark, ray, and crocodile feedings and various animal presentations with Q&A opportunities to learn more about the animals throughout the day.
Meet the aquarium’s King Croc, originally dubbed a ‘problem’ crocodile by locals in Australia due to his aggressive nature, this 40-year-old crocodile weighs in at 3,700 pounds (750 kilograms), making him one of the largest zoo or aquarium reptiles in the world.
Head to the Underwater Zoo, located on level two above the aquarium tank, and learn about animals living in the three ecological zones: Rainforest, Rocky Shore, and Living Ocean. You’ll see lots of aquatic creatures from both river and ocean environments, including: otters, piranha, penguins, crocodiles, lionfish, giant spider crabs, seahorses, garden eels, archerfish, arapaima, water rats, paddlefish, cichlids, nautilus, and more.
