American history and happy hour make for the perfect pair on this 2-hour Hamilton Happy Hour Tour. Your local guide will take you around the streets of New York’s oldest neighborhood to walk in the footsteps of Alexander Hamilton.
Like Hamilton the Musical, this tour celebrates his life and accomplishments; you’ll learn about how an ‘illegitimate immigrant’ earned his ticket to New York City where on the eve of a revolution, his hard work, ambition, brilliance, and charismatic personality helped pave the way for him to become one of the most beloved – and controversial – founding fathers.
In addition to exploring Hamilton’s life and personal accomplishments, you’ll learn about his legacy and influence on American politics as the first Secretary of the Treasury, even today. You’ll see how Wall Street, the Stock Exchange, and the American financial system echo some of his ideas as you walk through the place where it all started, the Financial District.
As you explore the area, your guide will point out important financial institutions and landmarks from the days of the American Revolution, including Federal Hall where Hamilton witnessed George Washington getting sworn in as the nation’s first President, providing context and making sure you don’t miss a thing.
After 2 hours of walking and observing history, you’ll end the tour with a stop and a pint at Hamilton’s favorite tavern, where he used to meet with Aaron Burr, his intellectual nemesis to whom he tragically lost a duel – for an honorary toast to Hamilton, freedom, and the United States of America.
